Indian Women dominate England

Right from the get-go, Harmanpreet Kaur & Co. dominated the match in every department. After playing a test after almost two years, the team did not look rusty at all and put on a good batting display. With four batters scoring 50 or more runs: Shubha Satheesh (69), Jemimah Rodrigues (68), Yastika Bhatia (66), and Deepti Sharma (67), the India women’s cricket team managed to score 428 runs in the first inning.

Then, India managed to restrict England to 136 on the second day, guided by Deepti Sharma’s 5/7. England was 108/3 at one stage, but Deepti and Sneh Rana’s off-spin saw them lose 7 wickets for 28 runs.

Not enforcing the follow-on, Team India started well, with Shafali and Smriti adding 61 runs in 13 overs. Harmanpreet remained unbeaten at 44. The only silver lining for England was off-spinner Charlotte Dean picking up four wickets.

The Indian women’s cricket team looked to finish things off as quickly as possible on Day 3. It did not take more than 28 overs for them to win their first Test against England in India.
