Everyone was up in arms when selectors decided to exclude Rinku Singh from India’s 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Although he found a place in the reserves, given his performance over the last 8-10 months in T20Is, it was a major letdown. However, given how he’s been performing since the start of the IPL 2024, one has to wonder if the BCCI selector was right.
IPL 2024: Form continues to let Rinku Singh down
Rinku has already played nine innings and scored just 132 runs. His average of 18.86 would have been even lower if he hadn’t been unbeaten twice. His strike rate has been fine (146.66), but given that he’s usually coming down the order, he won’t be happy with this strike rate.
In the MI vs KKR match, he had the golden chance to prove himself. He entered the middle in the fifth over, but he wasn’t doing so well (43/4). The opportunity to finally make a case before the T20 World Cup 2024 squad deadline on May 25. Rinku Singh managed to play just 8 balls and score just 9 runs as he went out in the 7th over of the match.
